WebYetu supports flexible ownership and access management — whether you are an agency handing over a completed site to a client, a business owner adding a partner, or a freelancer who built a site under your own account and needs to move it to the client. Here is how it works.
Understanding Ownership vs Editor Access
On WebYetu, a website can have:
- An owner — full control over the website including billing, domain settings, and the ability to delete the site
- Editors — can update content, add products, manage blog posts, and make design changes, but cannot access billing or ownership settings
How to Add an Editor or Co-Owner
- Go to Dashboard → Settings → Ownership.
- Enter the email address of the person you want to add.
- Select their role — Editor or Owner.
- Save. The person will receive an invitation to access the website under their own WebYetu account.
Transferring Full Ownership to a Client
If you built the site for a client and want to hand it over completely:
- Add the client as an Owner using the steps above.
- Once they have accepted and confirmed access, you can remove yourself from the ownership list.
- The client now has full control and billing responsibility for the site.
Best Practices for Agencies and Freelancers
- Always build client websites under their own WebYetu account from the start — it avoids ownership transfer complications later
- If you built under your account, transfer ownership before the client starts paying for their own subscription
- Keep yourself as an Editor (not Owner) after handover if the client wants you to continue maintaining the site
